Since 1971, the Mark Twain Athletic and Fitness Center building has been part of the daily lives for thousands of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. To mark its fortieth year, the Department of Athletics is launching the Mark Twain revitalization project. This project includes an exciting, all new state of the art recreational fitness center as well as a comprehensive multi-functional athletic facility to benefit the UMSL community, including our alumni.

The entrance to the Mark Twain Building will be developed as a courtyard and personalized bricks will line the walkway where thousands of visitors pass through each year. By purchasing a brick for our walkway, you will help pave the way to excellence for our students.

With each brick purchase you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity and a locator map so that you can easily find your brick outside the Mark Twain Building. Your contribution to the University Missouri-St. Louis Athletics is tax deductible to the extent allowed by laws. All money raised will be used to support the University of Missouri-St. Louis Department of Athletics Mark Twain revitalization project.


Want to get someone special a brick, but not sure what message to engrave on it? Purchase a University of Missouri-St. Louis Mark Twain Legacy Gift Certificate and allow them to decide.

With each brick purchased, you will receive an identical replica to proudly display in your home or office, or to give as a gift to the person you have honored.

The replica will be made of the same material as those used in the Mark Twain Legacy Plaza. It will include your same message inscription, plus a small plaque commemorating your contribution to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Mark Twain Legacy Plaza Brick Campaign.

Special display cases are also available for purchase and make a great way to display your replica.

*Replicas will be shipped at no charge (within the continental U.S.) within 10 to 12 weeks of the receipt of your order. Your replica will look as close to your actual brick as possible, but we have no control over color variations. The University of Missouri-St. Louis cannot guarantee that the replica will be an exact match to the brick that is installed at the plaza.
