ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head women's basketball coach
Katie Vaughn has announced the signing of
Sydney Bloch (Edwardsville, Ill.),
Jordan Boyce (Cypress, Texas),
Danielle Daume (Jackson, Mo.), and
Jordan Fletcher (Quincy, Ill.) to national letters of intent to join the Tritons program beginning with the 2013-14 academic year. Along with those four, Vaughn has also announced the addition
Alyssa Like (Poseyville, Ind.), a transfer from Murray State University.
Bloch
(pictured on the right) was a two-year starter and four-year letterwinner at Edwardsville High School. As a senior she averaged 6.8 points per game and earned second team all-Southwestern Conference and special mention Illinois Girls Basketball all-state honors. During her career, she helped Edwardsville to four regional and three sectional championships. The Tigers were Illinois Class 4A state runner-ups her junior year, and as a senior, were ranked first in the state and 17
th nationally.
“Sydney comes from a very dominate Edwardsville High School program where she played with some elite players,” said Vaughn. “Her calmness and ability to both handle and deliver the ball is something you can't teach. She has great basketball sense and a work ethic that is contagious.”
Boyce
(pictured on the left) was a four-year letterwinner at Rosehill Christian School, where she graduates as the school's all-time career scoring leader with 2,321 points. She also owns school records for career three-pointers (369) and three-pointers in a game (10). Boyce was a three-time Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class 3A all-state selection as well as a three-time Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) all-state honoree and a four-time TAPPS Class 3A District 7 selection. As a junior she was named the TAPPS Class 3A District 7 MVP.
As a senior, she led TAPPS 3A in scoring, which included 75 three-point field goals, as her team was the TAPPS 3A area champs. As a junior, Boyce led her team to the state championship game, while leading all classifications of TAPPS with 97 three-pointers. She also led TAPPS 3A in scoring with 667 points for the season. As a sophomore, Boyce helped guide her team to its first TAPPS 3A state championship, leading all TAPPS with 129 three-pointers en route to 671 points during the season. She ranked second in the state of Texas and was fifth nationally in three-pointers made, according to Maxpreps. As a freshman, Boyce's team earned a bid to the TAPPS 3A Final Four and averaged nearly nine points a game, while leading TAPPS 3A with 68 three-pointers.
“Jordan's ability to shoot the three and her scoring mentality will be vital to the future of our program,” said Vaughn. “She is a competitor that has a winning mentality and a refuse to lose attitude. We are very excited about Jordan's future as a Triton.”
Daume
(pictured on the right) was a three-year letterwinner at Jackson High School, where she earned all-conference, all-district and all-region honors as a senior after averaging 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 40 percent from the field. Daume was also twice selected as her team's Player of the Year. As a junior, she averaged 7.7 points, 2.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while netting 42 percent of her three-point field goals.
“Danielle is a very smart point guard that has a great sense for the game,” said Vaughn. “She also has the ability to shoot the three and create for her teammates. We are excited Danielle has chosen UMSL.”
Fletcher
(pictured on the left) was a four-year letterwinner at Quincy High School where she earned honorable mention all-conference honors and was selected to the McDonald's/Herald-Whig Classic All-Star Illinois team. She also was named to the Scholastic All-Conference Team and played AAU for Team Adidas-St. Louis and Tri-State Express.
“Jordan's 6-4 frame will be a great addition to the solid post play that we already have,” Vaughn said. “She is very athletic and has a very well-rounded game. Jordan will definitely cause matchup problems for other teams and will be a great presence inside defensively.”
Like
(pictured on the bottom right)spent last season at Murray State after playing two seasons at Olney Central College. At Murray State, she appeared in 22 games, averaging 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 points per game. At OCC, Like was a two-time All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference selection and was a 2011-12 NJCAA Third Team Division I All-American.
Like prepped at North Posey High School, where she was a two-time all-conference and an all-South Western selection. As a senior, she averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
“Alyssa was a very dominate junior college player and has many facets to her game, both offensively and defensively,” said Vaughn. “Her scoring mentality, as well as the ability to get her teammates involved, will be exhilarating to watch. I am also excited about the Division I experience she brings to us.”
