SETTING THE SCENEThe UMSL women's basketball team enters the final stretch of the regular season with its fate in its own hands. The Tritons have already punched their ticket to the GLVC Tournament, but with three games remaining, are looking to lock in a first round home game. UMSL will play two of its final three games at home, beginning Thursday against Quincy. The Tritons then travel to Truman State on Saturday and close out the regular season at home next Thursday against Maryville. Â
SIZING UP THE TRITONSUMSL is 12-11 overall, including 8-7 in the GLVC. The Tritons, 7-2 at home, are one of four teams tied for second place in the GLVC West Division at 8-7, including Quincy, Truman State and William Jewell. Maryville sits one game back at 7-8. The top four seeds for the GLVC Tournament have been determined (Drury, Lewis, UW-Parkside and Southern Indiana) and will also receive a first round bye, while the remaining eight seeds are up for grabs with four teams at 8-7 and four at 7-8.
The Tritons are coming off an 80-59 win over Bellarmine last Saturday after opening the weekend with a 59-48 loss to Southern Indiana.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKINGSenior
Alexis Lawrence averages a team-best 13.9 points per game and has drained 75 three-pointers, while junior
Kelly Kunkel follows with 11.9 points per game and also grabs 6.67 rebounds per contest. Senior
Kelly McGovern leads the team with 4.0 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Senior
Tierra Snow is shooting 60.5 percent from the field, while redshirt freshman
Jordan Fletcher owns a team-best 30 blocks, which is the seventh most in a single season at UMSL.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSEUMSL has limited six opponents to fewer than 50 points this season and in GLVC-only games, the Tritons are allowing just 58.6 points per game, a league best.
LAWRENCE FOR THREE- Senior
Alexis Lawrence averages 3.26 three-pointers per game, which leads the GLVC and is fifth in NCAA DII.
- Lawrence has 16 games with three or more three-pointers this season.
- Her 75 three-pointers this season rank third on the single season charts. Â
- She ranks second all-time in program history with 207 three-pointers and is second in three-pointers attempted (582) and seventh in three-point shooting percentage (.356).
MORE ON MCGOVERN- Senior
Kelly McGovern might stand at 5-7, but she ranks eighth in the GLVC in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and has been the Tritons' top rebounder in seven games this season.
- She also ranks fourth in the GLVC in assists (4.05 apg) and sixth in steals (1.83 spg).
- McGovern ranks sixth in program history with 308 career assists and is third in free throw percentage (80.3).
SHOOTING FOR ACCURACY- Senior
Tierra Snow's current career field goal shooting percentage of 56.1 is a program best.
- Snow's 60.5 percentage this season leads the GLVC and ranks second in program single season history.
- In GLVC-only games, Snow is shooting a league-best 64.9 percent, while redshirt freshman
Jordan Fletcher is second at 63.8 percent.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSQuincy is 13-10 overall, including 8-7 in the GLVC and has lost two straight, both at home. The Hawks, 5-6 on the road, are led by Carly Bettencourt's 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while seven different players average at least 7.1 points per game. Quincy ranks fifth in GLVC-only games with a 35 percent three-point shooting percentage and are fourth with 6.93 three-pointers per game.
Truman State enters a Thursday road game at Maryville with a 14-9 overall record, including an 8-7 GLVC mark. The Bulldogs have won four straight at home, where they are 8-3 this season. Allie Norton leads three players in double-figures with 15.7 points per game and also dishes out 3.6 three-pointers per game and ranks second to
Alexis Lawrence in the GLVC three-pointers made with 70.

SERIES HISTORIESQuincy leads the all-time series, 31-20, and won the first meeting this season, an 80-73 victory in Quincy. The Tritons trailed by just two with 2:32 to play after rallying from a 14-point second half deficit, but could get no closer and Quincy helped seal the game by going 9-of-10 at the free throw line in the final 1:34. UMSL shot 41.3 percent from the field and owned a 34-30 rebounding advantage, including a 19-9 edge on the offensive end and outscored Quincy, 20-5, in second chance points. The Hawks connected at a 51.5 clip and took advantage of 15 Triton miscues, outscoring UMSL, 22-9, in points off turnovers. Senior

UMSL trails Truman State, 17-15, in the all-time series, but has won the last two meetings, including a 70-56 victory in St. Louis earlier this year. The Tritons, led by senior
Kelly McGovern's 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals, owned a pair of 17-point leads, but had to fend off the Bulldogs, who pulled back within single digits each time. UMSL shot 47.1 percent from the field and owned a 35-27 rebounding advantage, while Truman State shot 37.7 percent.
