STUDENT-ATHLETE (Softball, Women's Basketball)
Nicole was a two-sport standout at UMSL in softball and women’s basketball, playing from 1992-96. On the softball field, she was a three-time all-MidAmerica Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) selection at shortstop, earning first team honors as a senior. Nicole is UMSL’s all-time career leader in batting average (.373), runs scored (135), hits (233) and RBIs (113). She also ranks second in career doubles (55) and total bases (316) and is fifth in triples (eight). As a junior on the 1995 team, Nicole helped UMSL to a 44-29 record – its most victories in a season. She recorded a single-season record 81 hits that year, including 24 doubles, which is the second-best single season total in program history. Those 24 doubles also stands as an MIAA record for doubles in a season. As a senior in 1996, she led the MIAA with a .489 batting average.
Nicole also earned all-MIAA honors in basketball, being selected to the honorable mention team as a junior. She became the eighth member of the program’s 1,000-point club, finishing with 1,010 career points, which ranks 10th all-time at UMSL. Nicole also ranks in the top 10 in eight other career categories, including second in steals (163), fourth in free throw attempts (360) and assists (340), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.352) and free throws made (242) and ninth in three-point field goals made (108), field goals attempted (863) and three-point field goals attempted (307).
