Volleyball Splits on Final Day of GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament

AURORA, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament on Saturday. The Tritons lost a 3-0 decision to No. 15 ranked Ferris State, but bounced back to fend off Ohio Dominican, 3-2. 
UMSL moves to 12-7 overall and returns to conference action on Saturday, traveling to Indianapolis.

UMSL was limited to just 18 kills and a season-low .040 hitting percentage in the loss as the Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-18.
 
Senior Emily Bragaw recorded 17 digs, while junior Jessica Ploss registered seven blocks. The Tritons tallied eight blocks as a team, while the Bulldogs put up nine and hit .174.
 
Junior Carly Ochs had a team-best six kills, while sophomore Jory Siebenmorgen finished with five.
 
UMSL 3, Ohio Dominican 2
The Tritons served up 11 service aces in the victory, including six from junior Hannah Miller, who also finished with 11 kills. UMSL won by set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-13, 15-25, 15-13.

After dropping the first set while hitting just .136, UMSL took a 2-1 lead with wins in sets two and three. Miller produced five of her service aces in the second set before racking up six kills in nine swings in the third frame.
 
The Tritons were limited to just eight kills and a .053 hitting percentage in the fourth set. UMSL then raced out to a quick 7-2 lead in the fifth set before Ohio Dominican rallied back to tie at 10-10. A kill from sophomore Kara Roggemann and a Panthers attack error later made it 13-11 Tritons, while kills from junior Lindsay Meyer and Miller accounted for UMSL's final two points.
 
Meyer finished with 43 assists, 10 digs and four kills, while Siebenmoregen paced the offense with 13 kills. Ochs also reached double-figures with 10, while Bragaw tallied 26 digs.
 
Roggemann recorded five of UMSL's eight blocks, while the Tritons hit .182 as a team to Ohio Dominican's .207.
