ST. LOUIS, MO. – After falling behind two sets to one, the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team rallied back to pull out a 3-2 win over visiting Drury on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons won by set scores of 25-12, 21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-9.
UMSL hit .260, recording 63 kills and out-blocked the Panthers, 12-6, to improve to 9-5 overall, including 6-3 in the GLVC. Drury, which hit .130, slips to 8-6 and 3-6 in the league.
Sophomore
Jory Siebenmorgen tied her career-high of 15 kills for the second straight night, with 11 of those coming in the first two sets. The Tritons hit .444 in the opening frame, committing just one error, and received five kills from Siebenmorgen.
Junior
Carly Ochs also registered 15 kills for the Tritons, while junior
Jessica Ploss added 10 kills and six blocks. Junior
Hannah Miller also finished with six blocks as UMSL came up one block short of its season high.
The Tritons were limited to .098 hitting in the second set despite six Siebenmorgen kills. UMSL bounced back to a .342 clip in the third set, but was hampered by four service errors and four service reception errors. Both teams finished with eight service errors.
Freshman
Gina Pezze helped the Tritons to a decisive fifth set with six of her seven kills coming in the fourth set win. She also finished with 14 digs and two service aces, while seeing action in the final three sets.
UMSL then jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fifth set before taking a 7-2 lead en route to the win.
Senior
Emily Bragaw tallied 22 digs, while junior
Erin Walker added a career-best 20. Junior
Lindsay Meyer made it nine straight double-doubles with 35 assists and 11 digs.
Drury was led by setter Brooke Antenen's triple double of 39 assists, 16 digs and 10 kills.
UMSL, which won't play at home again until October 28, begins a seven-match roadswing at GLVC West Division leader Rockhurst on Friday.
