ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior
Derek Shouse scored a season-high 18 points to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to an 89-61 victory over Benedictine-Springfield on Tuesday afternoon.
Shouse, who was 4-of-6 from three-point range, scored 13 first half points to help the Tritons to a 49-23 halftime advantage. UMSL improves to 4-0 with the win and returns to action next Tuesday, hosting Concordia Seminary at 7 p.m.
Senior
Aareon Smith recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while junior
Derek Williams also reached double figures with 13 points. Williams added five assists, while Shouse finished with four assists and four steals.
The Tritons committed just six turnovers and scored 22 points on 14 Bulldogs turnovers.
UMSL shot 47.6 percent from the field, including an even 50 percent in the first half, while Benedictine shot 36.5 percent and held a slim 40-39 rebounding advantage. Junior
Kevin Swanson pulled down nine rebounds, while adding eight points.
