Men's Basketball Downs MacMurray, 103-65, to Move to 8-0

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior Tre Ogles poured in a game-high 30 points to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to a 103-65 win over MacMurray on Saturday afternoon in the Tritons' final non-conference home game.
 
UMSL improves on the program's best start, moving to 8-0.
 
Ogles connected on 9-of-12 field goal attempts, including 5-of-6 from three-point range as the Tritons shot 60.7 percent as a team, including 57.7 percent from beyond the arc, connecting on 15-of-26 long balls.
 
Senior Aareon Smith added 18 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, netting 10-of-13 free throws. Senior Derek Shouse and junior Kevin Swanson also reached double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
 
The Tritons owned a 41-29 rebounding advantage, while MacMurray (1-6) shot 40.4 percent. UMSL posted a 55-27 halftime lead.
 
Junior Derek Williams dished out four assists, while freshman Max Cook tallied three assists, three steals and two blocks to go along with six points.
 
UMSL will close out its nonconference schedule next weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Tritons face West Texas A&M on Saturday and Nova Southeastern on Sunday.

TRITON TIDBITS: UMSL reached the 100-point plateau for the third time this season, marking the second straight year the team has done so… the Tritons have netted double-digit three-pointers in five straight games… UMSL has shot better than 50 percent from the field in the last four contests… the Tritons have won 18 straight home non-conference games dating back to the start of the 2010-11 season… UMSL is 2-0 all-time against MacMurray with the only other meeting coming on Dec. 1, 1980.
