Box Score Photo GalleryST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 3-0 win over McKendree on Sunday afternoon.
The Tritons battled through a 29-27 first-set victory before winning 25-21 and 25-20 in the final two frames to improve to 5-1 overall. McKendree slips to 4-2 and 1-1 in the league.
Junior
Jessica Ploss led UMSL with eight kills and four blocks, while junior
Lindsay Meyer recorded 22 assists and 12 digs and directed the offense to a .216 attack percentage.
After hitting just .096 in the first set, which featured 13 ties and six lead changes, UMSL connected at a .301 clip in the final two frames, including .433 in the second set.
Senior
Allie Ewing added seven kills in 11 attempts, while sophomore
Jory Siebenmorgen also tallied seven kills. Ewing was a perfect 3-for-3 in set two.
Junior
Erin Walker recorded 15 digs, while UMSL outblocked their opponents, 5-4.
UMSL will travel to Missouri S&T on Wednesday for a nonconference match before resuming league play at Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
