QUINCY, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis committed a season-high 16 turnovers in an 81-64 loss at Quincy on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Hawks took advantage of the Triton miscues, owning a 19-11 scoring advantage in points off turnovers. UMSL entered the game ranking fourth in NCAA DII with just 9.8 turnovers per game.
Quincy also owned a 44-32 rebounding edge, including a 16-11 advantage on the offensive end to outscore UMSL, 20-13, in second chance points.
UMSL slips to 12-4 overall with the loss, including 4-2 in the GLVC, while Quincy improves to 8-9 and 2-5 in the league.
Quincy shot 57.1 percent in the opening 20 minutes, including 53.8 percent (7-of-13 from three-point range) en route to a 51-32 halftime lead. The Tritons connected at a 45.8 clip from the field, but committed nine turnovers, resulting in 15 Hawks points on the other end. Quincy also held a 13-0 advantage in second chance points.
The Tritons pulled within 61-52 midway through the second half, but back-to-back Quincy three-pointers ignited an 18-4 run and the Hawks never looked back.
UMSL shot 38.7 percent and was 10-of-30 from three-point range, while Quincy connected at a 47.6 percent and was 9-of-22 from beyond the arc.

Max Cook finished with eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
UMSL wraps up three games in five days on Monday, traveling across town to Maryville. It will also be the Tritons' fourth road game in a five-game stretch.
