ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team suffered its first Great Lakes Valley Conference loss on Thursday night at the hands of No. 2 ranked and undefeated Lewis, 78-59.
 
The Tritons fall to 6-5 overall, including 2-1 in the GLVC, while Lewis improves its ledger to 14-0 and 4-0 in the league.
 
The Flyers used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from UMSL and outscored the Tritons, 38-19, over the final 15 minutes after junior Kelly Kunkel's jumper pulled her team within 41-39.
 
Redshirt freshman Jordan Fletcher posted her second straight double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds and added three blocks, while senior Alexis Lawrence tallied 13 points. Fletcher was 6-of-7 from the field and snagged six of her boards on the offensive end to help the Tritons to a 15-2 advantage in second chance points.
 
UMSL finished the contest shooting 39.1 percent, while Lewis shot 48.4 percent, including 50 percent (9-of-18) from three-point range, and owned a 38-35 rebounding advantage. Jess Reinhart scored a game-high 19 points to lead five Flyers players in double figures.
 
Lewis took a 36-27 lead into halftime, hitting a three-point bucket with 19 seconds remaining to end an 8-0 UMSL run. Sophomore Sydney Bloch gave the Tritons their last lead of the game at 12-10 at the 11:43 mark before Lewis followed with a 23-7 run over the next seven minutes to post a 33-19 advantage. Lawrence and Fletcher then combined to score UMSL's next eight points to close the gap.
 
The Tritons wrap up a two-game road swing at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
