MARSHALLL, MO. – Redshirt sophomore
Jordan Fletcher scored a season-high 14 points to lead three Tritons in double figures as the Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team posted a 63-33 victory at Missouri Valley on Saturday in the team's final game of the 2015 year.
Senior
Amber Daly added 12 points, all in the first half, while senior
Kelly Kunkel followed with 11 points.
The Tritons improve to 5-5 overall and return to action on Saturday, Jan. 2 hosting fellow GLVC member Truman State in a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
UMSL led 15-10 after the first quarter, scoring the final five points after Missouri Valley erased an early 10-4 deficit with six straight to knot it at 10-10 with 1:36 to play.
The Tritons then outscored the Vikings, 22-5, in the second quarter, to own a 37-15 cushion at the break. Daly scored nine of her points in the second 10-minute period. UMSL owned a 46-26 lead after three quarters before finishing the game with a 17-7 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.
The Tritons shot 37.1 percent and held a 25-20 rebounding advantage, including a 22-8 edge on the offensive end. Freshman
Julie Jurasits pulled down eight rebounds, while Kunkel grabbed six.
Junior
Sydney Bloch dished out a career-best eight assists, while Fletcher recorded three blocked shots and three steals.
Missouri Valley was limited to 26.2 percent shooting and was 0-of-6 from three-point range.
