ST. LOUIS, MO., December 8, 2015 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball sunk a school record 20 three-pointers en route to a 114-58 victory over Robert Morris-Springfield on Tuesday night.
The Tritons improve to 4-4 overall, while picking up their 27
th straight home non-conference victory dating back to 2009. Robert Morris-Springfield falls to 0-6 with its fourth loss this season against a team from the GLVC.
Senior
Cortez Conners led six Tritons in double figures with 23 points, going 7-of-9 from beyond the arc, while senior
Brandon Marquardt added 20 points, netting six three-pointers.
Juniors
Alex Majewski and
Joseph English added 14 points each, while sophomore
Andreas Kefalas (11) and junior
DeAndre Holmes (10) also finished in double figures.
UMSL took a 61-28 lead into the break behind 71.4 percent shooting, which included 10 made three-pointers in 14 attempts, before finishing at an even 60 percent from the floor, including 55.6 percent (20-of-36) from long range.
The Tritons recorded 36 assists on 45 field goals, the second most in a single game in program history. English dished out eight assists for the second straight game without committing a turnover, while sophomore
Max Cook handed out seven, while also collecting a pair of steals.
All 12 UMSL players that got in the game scored at least two points with the Tritons' bench posting 58 points.
Sophomore
Danilo Radenkovic came off the bench to pull down a team-best seven rebounds, while Majewksi, Cook and Conners added six each as the Tritons owned a 46-25 rebounding advantage.
Robert Morris-Springfield shot 35.2 percent and was led by Brandon Griggs' 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
UMSL will close out its current seven-game homestand on Saturday, hosting Maryville in GLVC play.
