ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball received 43 points from its bench, but it wasn't enough to help the Tritons past Southern Indiana on Thursday night as the Screaming Eagles posted a 76-69 victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Brandon Marquardt equaled a career-high 16 points and added five assists, while sophomore
Alex Majewski tied his career-best of 12 points, 10 of which came in the first half in just six minutes of playing time. Both players came off the bench for the Tritons.
Senior
Aareon Smith tallied his 13
th double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
UMSL slips to 16-8 overall, including 8-6 in the GLVC, while Southern Indiana improves to 16-6 and 9-5 in the league.
The Screaming Eagles opened the second half with a 13-5 scoring advantage in the first five minutes to turn a 32-31 halftime lead into a 47-38 lead. UMSL pulled within five twice and then trimmed it to 59-54 on a pair of Smith free throws with 4:34 to play, but USI followed with eight unanswered and took its largest lead of the game at 67-55 with 1:27 on the clock. Marquardt scored five points in 10 seconds for the Tritons close the gap to 67-60, but the Screaming Eagles would finish the game 9-of-10 at the free throw line to help seal the victory.
The Tritons shot 42.6 percent in the contest, including 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from three-point range and owned a 36-33 rebounding advantage, while Southern Indiana shot 48.1 percent, including 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from long range. Bobo Drummond finished with 23 points on 7-of-9 three-point shooting.
UMSL continues its current three-game homestand on Saturday, hosting No. 3 ranked Bellarmine at 3 p.m.
TRITON TIDBITS: Southern Indiana leads the all-time series 34-11 and has won 12 straight… UMSL lost its second straight home game and is now 9-2 at home, including 4-2 in home GLVC contests… the Tritons have netted double-figure three-pointers nine times this season, which ties the second most in program history.
