ROSEMONT, ILL. – The No. 5 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team opened play at the D2 Midwest Region Dome Invitational, hosted by Lewis, with a pair of five-inning victories on Friday. The Tritons blanked Kentucky Wesleyan, 10-0, before topping Upper Iowa, 10-2.
UMSL (10-1) continues action tomorrow with two more games, beginning at 11 a.m. against No. 15 ranked Wayne State (Mich.). The Tritons then close out the day against Grand Valley State at 6 p.m.

Hannah Perryman en route to the win.

Katie Wood led the offense with two hits, including her first solo homerun of the season. Wood also scored three runs, while driving in two others.

H. Perryman improved to 4-1 in the circle, while also notching her 57
th career win, one shy of Jill Stockdale's (1993-95) program-best 58. Perryman struck out 12 in the win, collecting her 800
th career strikeout and improving her program-best record to 811.
UMSL took a 2-0 lead into the third inning, where they tacked on five runs on four hits and two Kentucky Wesleyan errors. The Tritons then plated three runs on four hits, including Wood's two-run homer, in the fourth inning.
UMSL 10, Upper Iowa 2 (5 inn.)The Tritons recorded eight hits, including five doubles, in the win and took advantage of three errors by the Peacocks, including one in a six-run fourth inning, in which four unearned runs crossed the plate. Stupek delivered a two-run homerun in that frame, while Boudreau added a two-run double.

Zbarschuk put UMSL on the board in the first inning with a double, while Perryman used an RBI double and Wood a two-run double in the third inning as the lead grew to 4-0.
Both Upper Iowa runs came in the fourth inning.
