VIERA, FLA. – Senior
Dylan Fieth's two-run homerun in the seventh inning helped the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team to a 3-2 victory over Northwood on Sunday afternoon as the Tritons improve to 4-0.
Fieth was one of three players to finish with two hits for UMSL, which tallied eight hits to Northwood's four. Junior
Jarret Clark added a pair of doubles, while senior
JJ Kinnevan added two hits and scored two runs.
Clark delivered his first double in the first inning, which scored Kinnevan, for the 1-0 lead. Northwood then took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on a two-run homerun.
Kinnevan recorded a one-out single in the seventh, while Fieth followed with his game-winner.
Junior
Kyle Wilson picked up the win in three innings of relief work, scattering two hits, while striking out three. Junior
Austin Simokaitis recorded the save, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
Senior
Matt Meyer went five innings in the start, striking out six, while walking four and allowing the two runs on two hits.
UMSL will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play next weekend with a four-game series at McKendree. Doubleheaders for both Saturday and Sunday are slated for 12 p.m. starts.
