Saints Net Double OT Penalty Kick as Tritons Fall in Regular Season Finale

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Maryville's Nico Andrade converted a penalty kick at the 101:49 mark in the second overtime to lift the Saints to a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon in the regular season finale.
 
The Tritons, playing their second straight overtime game and the third in their last four outings, slip to 10-6-1 overall and wrap up GLVC play with a 9-5-1 record. UMSL will open GLVC Tournament play on Sunday with a road game at an opponent to be determined.
 
UMSL took a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute when sophomore Jake Meyerkord chipped the ball in on a pass up from sophomore Dom Barczewski.
 
The Saints scored the equalizer in the 59th minute on a free kick.
 
Maryville outshot UMSL, 20-13, including 12-5 in shots on goal with senior keeper Jack Filla making a career-best 10 saves.
 
Barczewski led the Tritons with four shots with two landing on goal.
