Women’s Soccer Wins Fifth Straight With Shutout of UW-Parkside

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Sophomore Lauren Lottmann scored her first goal of the season in the fourth minute of play to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday afternoon.

The goal would stand as the only score of the contest, giving the Tritons their sixth straight victory and moving their record to 8-2 both overall and in the GLVC. The Rangers had a two-game win streak snapped as they slip to 6-5-1 and 6-4 in the league.

Lottmann's shot in the box at the 3:47 mark hit the crossbar, but bounced back down past the goal line. Juniors Emily Mosier and Baylee Williams were credited with the double assist on the play.

The Tritons outshot their opponents, 14-4, including 5-2 in shots on goal. Senior Kirsten Crabtree took six shots with one on goal. One of her shots appeared to lead to another UMSL goal in the second half, but was called off. Crabtree's shot from the left side was saved, but the goalie had a hard time hanging on to the ball and senior Miriam Taylor put it into the back of the net. However, UMSL was flagged for offsides, keeping the score 1-0.

Sophomore McKenzie DeRouen played the first 45 minutes in goal, making two saves, while freshman Emily Rish preserved the shutout with the final 45 minutes between the posts.

UMSL opens a three-game roadswing at Indianapolis on Friday night.
