ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Steven Davis netted eight three-pointers and scored 26 points to lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to a 72-64 win at Webster on Monday night.
Davis finished 9-of-12 from the field, including 8-of-11 from beyond the arc, making his first seven attempts. He came up one three-pointer shy of the school record of nine.
UMSL, which improves to 3-2 with the win, also received 13 points from junior
D.J. White. The Tritons shot 52.8 percent, while Webster shot 46.9 percent. Both teams pulled down 29 rebounds.
Davis scored 11 points, which included three long balls, during a 15-4 first half run that turned a 20-17 deficit into a 32-24 lead with 3:05 to play. UMSL took a 34-28 lead into halftime.
The Gorlocks, playing this game as an exhibition, opened the second half with a 9-2 run to post a 37-36 lead three minutes in. Davis answered with a three-pointer and later netted another two to give the Tritons a 45-41 advantage with 13:59 to play.
Webster trimmed its deficit to 57-56 at the 4:42 mark, but UMSL reeled off six unanswered to ignite an 11-2 run, capped on Davis' eighth three-pointer to go on top 68-56 with just under two minutes to play.

Elijah Watson added eight points and pulled down five rebounds, while senior
Joseph English dished out four assists and collected two steals.
UMSL returns home this weekend to host the Marriott St. Louis Airport Classic. The Tritons entertain East Central on Friday and Missouri Western on Saturday, while Maryville rounds out the classic field.
