ST. CHARLES, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team swept crosstown foe Lindenwood on Saturday night to close out a weekend tournament hosted by the Lions.
The Tritons, who improve to 2-2, bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Sioux Falls earlier in the day.
Junior
Gina Pezze was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 2.92 kills and 2.46 digs per set in the tournament, while hitting at a .300 clip.
UMSL 3, Lindenwood 0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18)
Match Highlights
-UMSL had just nine kills in the opening set, but hit .308, while limiting Lindenwood to .025 hitting as the Tritons held a 3-0 advantage in blocks.
-Pezze had five kills in the second set, including back-to-back kills to ignite a 5-0 run, turning an 11-7 deficit into a 12-11 lead.
-Freshman
Selena Nolte had three of her four kills in the third set in a 5-0 run in the third set that helped UMSL pull away from the Lions for a 24-15 lead.

Sioux Falls 3, UMSL 0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-16)
Match Highlights
-Sioux Falls (1-2) hit .467 in the opening set. The Cougars jumped out to an early 12-5 lead, recording 10 kills on 14 attempts during that run.
-With UMSL leading, 10-6, in the second set, Sioux Falls scored six unanswered, including five on Triton errors, for a 12-10 advantage. UMSL later rebounded to knot the score at 19-19 on one of junior
Gina Pezze's four kills of the set, but the Cougars followed four straight for the 23-19 advantage. The Tritons used a pair of blocks to shut down Sioux Falls and pull within23-22, but back-to-back kills sealed the set.
-An 8-2 run in the third set helped Sioux Falls turn an 11-9 advantage into a 19-11 lead.
