ROLLA, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team had a seven-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday night with a 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss at Missouri S&T.
UMSL slips to 6-2-1 overall, including 5-1-1 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T improves to 4-1-4 and 3-0-3 in the league.
Missouri S&T scored in the 10
th and 27
th minutes for a quick 2-0 lead. The first score came inside the box, while the second was on a long pass into a breakaway.
Sophomore
Jake Meyerkord put the Tritons on the board in the 50
th minute, scoring on the rebound after his first shot attempt was stopped.
The Miners then added an insurance goal in the 75
th minute.
The home team took 16 shots with seven on goal, while UMSL took 13 shots, placing six on goal. Meyerkord and senior
DJ Bednar both had two shots on goal, while junior
Pat Ries took shots with one on goal.
Senior
Jack Filla allowed all three Miners goals and made four saves.
