ST. LOUIS, MO. –Junior
Pat Ries netted two goals on Sunday to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Northern Michigan in the Tritons' final nonconference game.
UMSL scored twice in the second half to erase a 2-1 halftime deficit to even its overall record to 1-1. Northern Michigan was playing the program's first-ever men's soccer contest.
Ries netted the game's first goal and also scored the game-winner midway through the second half. He wasted no time getting the Tritons on the board finding the back of the net off a steal with just 25 seconds played. However the lead was short lived as the Wildcats answered back moments later. Northern Michigan pushed ahead in the 42
nd minute.
Senior
Pim Boonstra knotted the score at 2-2 in the 56
th minute, chipping it over the head of the Northern Michigan goalie off a pass up ahead from junior
Nick Werner.
Ries then notched the go-ahead goal four minutes later in the 60
th minute, firing from 10 yards out on the right wing. Senior
Clay Stocker was credited with an assist on the play.
UMSL placed 10 of its 11 shots on goal, with Werner and Boonstra each putting all three attempts on target.

Jack Filla played all 90 minutes in goal, recording one save. The Wildcats took nine shots with three landing on goal.
