LIBERTY, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team was plagued by 18 turnovers Saturday in a 64-41 loss at William Jewell.
The host Cardinals took advantage of the Tritons miscues, holding a 23-8 scoring advantage in points off turnovers.
The Tritons slip to 9-10 overall, including 4-7 in the GLVC, while William Jewell improves to 8-10 and 4-6 in the league.
Numbers of Note
-William Jewell outrebounded UMSL, 44-33, including 20-9 on the offensive end, outscoring the Tritons, 15-6, in second chance points.
-UMSL shot slightly better from the field (35.7 percent to 34.4 percent) but the Cardinals were 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) from three-point range, while the Tritons were 3-of-14 (21.4 percent).

Laura Szorenyi scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds, while junior
Sammie Sproul pulled down a season-best seven rebounds for the second straight game.
How it Happened
UMSL committed nine turnovers in the first quarter and was called for eight fouls, which sent three starters to the bench with two fouls each. The Tritons made two field goals in the first minute, but missed their last six as William Jewell posted an 18-5 lead after the opening frame.
The Cardinals owned a pair of 19-point leads in the second quarter and posted a 34-16 advantage at the break before extending the lead to 52-29 after three quarters.
