ST. LOUIS, MO. – Visiting Indianapolis spoiled the Great Lakes Valley Conference home opener for the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team Thursday night, handing the Tritons a 76-65 loss.
UMSL didn't go down without a fight, however, cutting a 19-point fourth quarter deficit to eight points at 73-65 with just over a minute to play.
UMSL had a two-game win streak snapped with the loss, falling to 6-5 overall, including 1-2 in the GLVC, while UIndy snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 8-5 and 2-1 in the league.

Chelsey Jacox scored a career-best 14 points to lead five UMSL players in double figures. Junior
Jordan Fletcher followed with 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks, while senior
Robneisha Lee recorded 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sophomore
Laura Szorenyi reached double figures for the 10
th time this season with 12 points, while junior
Shawnta Johnson added 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Indianapolis shot 56.7 percent in the first half en route to a 42-33 halftime lead after holding a 24-18 advantage following the first quarter. The Greyhounds connected at a 55.1 percent clip in the game, while UMSL shot 35.1 percent.
UIndy held a 35-28 rebounding advantage despite the Tritons owning a 12-7 edge on the offensive end. UMSL also took advantage of 18 Greyhound turnovers, holding a 23-15 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Tritons return to the court on Saturday, hosting Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m.
