Danielle Waedekin tallied a season-high 38 digs, but it wasn't enough as the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss at Illinois Springfield Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Illinois Springfield outblocked UMSL, 6-1, in the opening set, limiting the Tritons to nine kills with nine errors.
- An 11-1 run, capped with seven unanswered early in the second set, gave UMSL a 12-6 advantage. Russell had three of her five kills during that stretch. The Prairie Stars got within two twice late, including 23-21, but kills from sophomores
Selena Nolte and
Amanda Vollmer ended the frame.
- UIS hit .395 in the third set.
- Six straight by the Tritons in the fourth set, including two kills from Nolte, gave UMSL a 12-8 lead, but a 6-1 Prairie Stars gave the home team a 15-14 lead.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Abeyta finished with a career-best 43 assists to go with 11 digs, recording her fourth double-double this season.
- Russell picked up her third double-double, notching 11 kills and 13 digs.
- Junior
Alex Miner led the offense with 14 kills and a .440 hitting percentage.
- UMSL hit .122 as a team, while UIS hit .240 and held a 12-7 advantage in blocks.
