ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior
Elijah Watson dished out 14 assists, breaking the single-game assists record, as the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team defeated Webster, 78-56, Tuesday night in its home opener.
Watson bettered the previous record of 13, set by Bob Bone in 1975.

How it Happened
- UMSL scored the game's first seven points, while Webster missed its first five fields before netting its first one at the 14:32 mark.
- UMSL held a 34-25 halftime lead.

Steven Davis knocked down three three-pointers – all assisted by Watson – in the first 1:27 of the second half to ignite a 21-3 run that was capped with a Davis fastbreak lay in that made it 55-28 with 12:26 to play.

- Davis recorded a game-high 19 points, finishing with five three-pointers, while also adding two blocked shots.

Johnathan Matthews scored all 13 of his points in the second half, while freshmen
Shane Wissink and
Jose Grubbs added 10 points each of the bench. Wissink was 4-of-4 from the field and also tallied five rebounds and two assists.
- UMSL shot 50.8 percent, including 54.8 percent in the second half, in which it knocked down 8-of-12 three-pointers.
