EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team notched its first 20-win season since 2010 on Saturday with a 3-2 road victory at Southern Indiana in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Sophomore
Selena Nolte recorded a match-high 23 kills, while junior
Alex Miner added a career-best 18 kills, hitting .607 with just one error in 28 attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Screaming Eagles won the opening set behind .286 hitting and scored four straight to turn a 14-13 advantage into an 18-13 lead.
- Six straight by UMSL in the second set gave the Tritons a 23-14 lead. Nolte had two kills during that run, while Miner also picked up a service ace. UMSL hit .400 in that frame.
- The Screaming Eagles hit .455 in the third set.
- Southern Indiana raced out to a 7-1 lead in the fourth set, but a 9-1 run by the Tritons, capped with six straight, gave UMSL a 12-10 lead. After a kill from sophomore
Kylie Rudsinski made it 18-13 in favor of the Tritons, USI reeled off four straight to pull within one. However, Rudsinski answered with another pair of kills.
- In the fifth set, four straight for USI gave the hosts an 8-6 lead, but UMSL answered back with three straight, including two kills from Miner for a 9-8 lead. A kill from Nolte later gave the Tritons a 12-10 advantage they would not relinquish.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- UMSL finished the match hitting .301 with senior
Madyson Abeyta dishing out a career-high 60 assists. She also recorded 10 digs to pick up her third double-double this week, and finished with two service aces.
- Rudsinski added 10 kills and four blocks, while Miner finished with six blocks.
- Senior
Danielle Waedekin led the back row with 18 digs, while sophomore
Morgan Childers followed with 12.
- Southern Indiana hit .246.
