ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team used stingy defense and solid rebounding to down crosstown foe Maryville in the regular season finale Thursday night. The Tritons won, 79-45, to secure a home game for Sunday's GLVC Tournament first round.
UMSL will be the league's No. 7 seed and will host No. 10 Seed Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m. The Tritons defeated the Pumas, 54-53, in St. Louis on January 7.
The Tritons owned a 51-21 rebounding advantage in tonight's contest, including a 17-6 edge on the offensive end. Defensively, UMSL limited its eighth opponent to fewer than 55 points this season.
UMSL ends the regular season with a 15-11 overall record, including a 10-8 mark in the GLVC, while Maryville is 12-13, 8-10 in the league.
Numbers of Note

Jordan Fletcher scored a game-high 20 points to go with 11 rebounds and three blocks. It was Fletcher's eighth 20-plus scoring game of the year and her fourth double-double. Fletcher's three blocks also gave her 99 for her career, needing just one more to become only the third player in program history to reach 100.

Robneisha Lee followed with 12 points, six rebounds and six assists, while senior
Chelsey Jacox also finished with 12 points.
-Junior
Shawnta Johnson pulled down 11 rebounds.
-UMSL shot 43.4 percent, while Maryville shot 31.6 percent. From the free-throw line, the Tritons were 26-of-29 (89.7 percent), while the Saints were 5-of-6.
-The Tritons held a 23-7 scoring advantage in second chance points.
How it Happened
UMSL took a 32-19 lead into halftime thanks in part to a 13-0 scoring advantage in second chance points as the Tritons held a 30-10 rebounding advantage, including an 11-1 edge on the offensive end. UMSL scored the final seven points of the first half.
The Tritons outscored the Saints, 28-14, in the third quarter and took their largest lead of 39 points late in the fourth quarter.
