ST. LOUIS, MO. – Visiting Bellarmine spoiled the home opener for the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team on Saturday, handing the Tritons a 9-3 setback.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak and drops UMSL to 5-8 on the year. Bellarmine improves to 12-7. The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 1 p.m.

The Knights scored single runs in the first, second and fifth innings before breaking the game open with six runs on six hits in the sixth.

All three UMSL runs came in the eighth inning. A Bellarmine fielding error led to the first run, while freshman Derrick Freeman added two runs with a single to left field.
