ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team closed out its four-game series against Truman State with a split on Monday, taking the finale, 8-4. The visiting Bulldogs took the opener, 11-2.
UMSL moves to 15-23 overall, including 9-11 in the GLVC, while Truman State is now 14-28 and 7-13 in the league.

Game Highlights
- Truman recorded 14 hits, drew eight walks and stole four bases, while Bulldogs pitcher Rian Markes limited UMSL to six hits in the complete game effort.
- An RBI single from freshman
Jarrett O'Brien in the third cut the deficit to 4-1, but the Bulldogs followed with five runs in the fourth to make it 9-1.
- A sac fly from sophomore
Tom DeCero in the fourth gave the Tritons their other run.

Game Highlights
- A pair of three-run innings helped the Tritons to a 6-1 lead after four innings.
- After Truman scored in the top of the first, UMSL countered in the bottom half, taking advantage of a two-out error to send three runners home, including two on junior
Cole McDonald's two-run single.
- A wild pitch, a throwing error and an RBI double off the bat of DeCero in the fourth made it 6-1.
- The Bulldogs tacked on three runs on four hits in the seventh to pull within 6-4, but junior
Jake Morsch led off bottom of the fourth with a triple and then scampered home on an RBI single by junior
Cooper Vinz to make it 7-4 before an insurance run in the eighth.

Kevin Smith improved to 5-2 on the hill with the win. He allowed four runs on seven hits in six and one-third of an inning, while striking out seven and walking two.

Alex Oltmann picked up his fourth save, tossing two and two-thirds scoreless innings.
- UMSL held an 11-10 advantage in hits, while Truman stranded 11 runners on base.
- McDonald finished with two hits and two RBI, while Morsch added two hits and scored two runs.
- Beckwith and Vinz had two hits each.
