GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Senior
Kaitlynn Henning scored a career-high 20 points and added six steals, but it wasn't enough as the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball lost its season opener, 69-58, at Davenport on Friday night.
The Tritons shot just 32.3 percent, while Davenport connected at a 54.2 percent clip to overcome 29 turnovers.
Despite the setback, UMSL did erase a 16-point deficit, pulling within six twice in the fourth quarter.

How it Happened
UMSL shot 21.2 percent in the opening 20 minutes. The Tritons were just 3-of-17 from the field in the first quarter as Davenport built a 16-7 lead before taking a 31-20 lead into the half.
The Panthers led 51-37 after three quarters, knocking down 9-of-11 field goals.
UMSL opened the final frame with an 8-0 run in the first two minutes, pulling within 51-45. The Tritons shot 61.5 percent in the fourth quarter with Henning scoring eight points in the final 10 minutes.

- Junior Amaria Allen added 12 points in her debut, while senior Arielle Jackson also reached double figures, scoring 10 points to go with five assists.
- Davenport held a 45-22 rebounding advantage. UMSL had 13 offensive rebounds to its nine on the defensive end. Sophomore Alex LaPorta pulled down five caroms and grabbed four steals.
- The Tritons collected 15 steals as Davenport turned the ball over 29 times. UMSL outscored the Panthers, 25-9, in points off turnovers.
