Ivanova, Thorngren Earn All-GLVC Honors in Women's Golf

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Stefaniya Ivanova and sophomore Emma Thorngren have been named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Team in women's golf.

Ivanova earns the honor for the fourth straight year, becoming the second golfer in program history to accomplish that feat. She owns a team-best scoring average of 76.12, having recorded eight top-10 finishes, including four in the top-five, and holds a national ranking of 72nd in DII. Her average, which is a career-best, ranks second on the single season charts in program history. Ivanova entered the NCAA East Regional third on the career scoring average charts at 77.94.

Thorngren is also a repeat selection to the All-GLVC team, having earned the honor in her inaugural season a year ago. This year, she owns a scoring average of 76.24, fourth lowest in a single season. She has eight top-10 finishes, including a pair of runner-up showings, and led the team at the GLVC Championships with a sixth-place finish. Thorngren entered the NCAA East Regional with the program's best career scoring average of 75.93.

Ivanova and Thorngren were two of five golfers chosen to the All-GLVC team based on a vote of league coaches. Five other individuals made the All-GLVC team by way of their top-finishes at the GLVC Championships.

The league also recognized 14 GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award nominees – one from each institution – with senior Ares Boira being UMSL's representative. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced in May.
