ST. LOUIS, MO. – Redshirt junior
Jason Towery scored 16 points to help lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to a 73-61 win over Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action as the Tritons capped a 12-game homestand.
The win snapped a 15-game losing streak to the Screaming Eagles and was the Tritons' first win in the series since 2005-06.

How it Happened
UMSL raced out to a 20-9 lead, knocking down nine of its first 12 shots in the opening nine minutes. Southern Indiana then went on a 15-2 run, capped with seven straight to take its first lead at 23-22 with just under five minutes on the clock. The Tritons then ended the half with a 9-2 spurt, including four points from junior
Jalen Wilkins-McCoy in the final 50 seconds, to take a 36-31 lead into the half.
UMSL used a 12-2 run early in the second half to push the advantage to 53-41 with 11:04 to play. Southern Indiana got within 60-54 with 4:29 to go, but would get no closer.
Inside the Box Score
- Senior Johnathan Matthews and sophomore Jose Grubbs added 14 points each, while junior Ronnie Carson followed with 11 points.
- UMSL shot 50 percent, while limiting USI to 34.5 percent from the field.
