ROLLA, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team recorded a combined 23 hits as they opened up a three-game GLVC series at Missouri S&T on Friday, but lost both ends of a doubleheader, 17-7 and 10-7. The host Miners registered 30 hits and drew 17 walks.

Game 1: Missouri S&T 17, UMSL 7
The Miners outscored the Tritons, 10-1, over the final two innings after UMSL tied it at 6-6 in the fifth, using five hits to score five runs. Redshirt junior
Derrick Freeman tallied an RBI single, while juniors
Andrew Hayden and
Jackson Dvorak added two-run doubles.
Freeman added a solo home run in the fourth inning – his team-leading third of the season – to get UMSL on the board.

S&T out-hit UMSL, 19-11, with Freeman, Dvorak and sophomore
John Hilpert all tallying two hits.
Game 2: Missouri S&T 10, UMSL 7
UMSL scored the game's final seven runs, including five in the eighth, but couldn't complete the rally.
The Tritons out-hit the Miners, 12-11, getting three hits each from senior
Tom DeCero and redshirt junior
Koltyn Schilly. Schilly had a two-run single in the eighth, while freshman
Jacob Stoker added a two-run double.
DeCero and Dvorak recorded back-to-back solo home runs in the sixth inning.
Missouri S&T scored in four of the first five innings, which included a five-run third.
