Women's Soccer Records Season-High in Shots on Goal Despite Loss

EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team recorded a season-high eight shots on goal, but couldn't overcome three converted penalty kicks by host Southern Indiana in a 6-0 loss Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Screaming Eagles scored four times in the first half, beginning with a tally just under seven minutes into the game. USI would then add three goals in a span of seven minutes midway through the first half, including their first PK.
 
The home team added two goals, both on penalty kicks, within one minute of each other in the second half.
 
USI posted 18 shots, placing nine on goal, while the Tritons finished with 13 shots.
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Redshirt junior Sarah Lyon took a team-best three shots, putting one on target, while seven other players had a shot on goal.
