ST. LOUIS – The No. 9 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team shot 51.5 percent en route to an 89-64 season-opening victory over Quincy on Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Marty Jackson scored 19 points in his Tritons debut to lead five players in double figure scoring.
With the win, the Tritons also extended their home court win streak to 18 games, fifth longest active streak in NCAA DII.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL took a 42-30 lead into halftime. The Tritons outscored the Hawks, 30-12, over the final 8:38 to erase an 18-12 deficit. UMSL started the game netting just 5-of-20 attempts from the field.
The Tritons then shot 56.3 percent from the field in the second half.
Defensively, UMSL limited the Hawks to 45.1 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers. Tanner Stuckman, who averaged 26 points in two games last weekend for Quincy, was limited to just six tonight as reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Year
Steve Webb was tasked with defending him.

- Senior Yaakema Rose Jr. scored all 18 of his points in the second half and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Senior Jose Grubbs followed with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Junior Kellen King chipped in 12 points, five boards and three assists, while senior Shane Wissink added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
- UMSL held a 20-5 advantage in points off turnovers, while committing just eight miscues.
