ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team got within four after trailing by 15, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 71-65 loss to visiting Truman State on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Truman shot 65.5 percent in the first half, including 71.4 percent (10-of-14) in the second quarter, en route to a 46-36 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs took their largest lead of the game at 57-42 with 2:38 to play in the third quarter and owned a 57-48 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
UMSL chipped away in the fourth quarter, pulling within 64-57 at the 4:34 mark on a three-pointer from freshman
Azaria Hulbert, while one of two free throws by junior
Faye Meissner with 37 seconds left made it 69-65.
Truman finished the game shooting 51.9 percent, while UMSL shot 40.3 percent.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Meissner tied a career-high with 17 points, making 6-of-10 shots, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
- Senior Alex LaPorta added 14 points and dished out seven assists.
- Freshman Taylor Thompson came off the bench to pull down eight rebounds and score six points.
- Truman held a 38-31 rebounding advantage despite UMSL owning a 10-6 edge on the offensive end and holding a 13-0 advantage in points off turnovers.
- UMSL committed just six turnovers, while the Bulldogs had 14 miscues.
