ST. CHARLES, MO. – It had been 421 days since the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team last played a contest, but that changed Friday night when the Tritons opened the season with a 3-0 win at Lindenwood.
UMSL served up seven aces in the sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMSL used a string of eight straight points in the first set to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 16-10 advantage. The Tritons had three aces in that set and held the Lions to .000 hitting.
- Like the first set, UMSL used a string of points to pull away, this time scoring six straight to take a 20-15 advantage.
- The Tritons reeled off five unanswered points for a 12-7 lead in the third set, but saw the Lions pull within 15-14 before pulling away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UMSL recorded 33 kills, including 11 from junior Charlotte Richards.
- Senior Kaileen Herman recorded 27 assists, nine digs, three kills and two aces.
- Junior Megan Woll finished with 15 digs.
- Sophomore Mya Elliott led the team with four blocks, including three solo, to help UMSL to an 8-6 blocking advantage.
