ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The UMSL Tritons were shutout on Senior Day Sunday at Don Dallas Field to conclude the 2021 campaign.
UMSL fell to a tough, physical McKendree team but are in the postseason dance.
McKendree smothered the Tritons, 3-0.
A win would have been icing on the proverbial cake, but all the Tritons want is a chance to dance.
The Tritons advance to the GLVC postseason tournament as the No. 7 seed and will battle No. 2 Illinois Springfield.
The Tritons finish the regular season 8-7-1 overall and 7-6-1 in the GLVC.
UMSL won three of its final four matches to close the season.
UIS defeated Drury, 1-0, on Sunday.
Before the match, the Tritons honored the following seniors:
Jordan Hurt,
Omer Krdzic,
Muhamed Husejinovic, and
Will Cytron.
Head coach
Dan King addressed each one.
Said King: "Jordan has been the ultimate teammate and competitor for the UMSL men's team. Omer has worked his way into the lineup year-by-year and helping his younger teammates along the way. Muhamed, [he] has been another one of those great teammates who thinks about the team first. Will transferred into the program and made a positive impact in his play. Very positive person who strives to always do the right thing. Very proud of all of them on how they are leaving the program."
