Friday morning was a battle of wills and a battle of skills.
Instead of sitting through a course lecture at 10 a.m., the UMSL women's soccer team was on the pitch at Harrison Stadium on the Drury University campus, as the Tritons battled the University of Southern Indiana at the GLVC semifinals.
UMSL previously defeated the Eagles, 2-1, Oct. 29.
This time, though the pressure and intense nature was escalated as both teams were vying for a spot in the GLVC championship game.
The Screaming Eagles, were just that, screaming, after Katlyn Andres's deflected shot trickled its way into the goal with 4:55 remaining in the second overtime, ending the Tritons' season at 8-8-3.
UMSL entered the match as the eight seed while the Eagles came in as the fifth.
Southern Indiana's took the ball down the left seam, crossed over to her right, found some real estate and delivered the shot, which deflected off the Tritons and just found its way inside the post.
USI meets Drury at noon Sunday for the championship tilt.
