The UMSL Tritons (5-2, 0-1) were in control for the majority of Thursday's game at Truman State.
The Tritons led for more than 35 minutes, but the Bulldogs matched points, 64-64, and forced overtime.
With .03 remaining, Yaakema Rose sized up his shot from the top of the key, draining the shot.
After
Jose Grubbs' took possession via interception at half court, finishing with the layup and leaving just .01, the Bulldogs announcers said the Tritons had won the game.
But the Bulldogs had that .01, and a heave and a prayer later, the 'Dogs left their venue with the nail-bite 72-71 GLVC win.
UMSL's heartbreaker sends them to 5-2 on the young season.
Once again, Grubbs led the team in scoring with his 23 points and Rose added 14.
Steve Webb added 12 and
Marty Jackson poured in 11.
Isaiah Fuller and
Atavian Butler combined for eight points.
Marquis Collins had three.
The Tritons look to position themselves back in the win column at 3 p.m. Saturday when they play at Lindenwood.
