ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost its season opener on Friday, 11-1, to Minnesota State-Mankato in the start of a four-game weekend series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mavericks outhit UMSL, 11-4.
- The Tritons got on the board in the sixth inning with sophomore Mitchel Becher doubled to score junior Carson Holin.
- Junior John Hilpert finished with a hit and two stolen bases.
- Sophomore Nick Torres allowed four runs on six hits in five innings, striking out four and issuing just one walk.
