Baseball Falls in Opener to Minnesota State

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost its season opener on Friday, 11-1, to Minnesota State-Mankato in the start of a four-game weekend series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mavericks outhit UMSL, 11-4.
  • The Tritons got on the board in the sixth inning with sophomore Mitchel Becher doubled to score junior Carson Holin.
  • Junior John Hilpert finished with a hit and two stolen bases.
  • Sophomore Nick Torres allowed four runs on six hits in five innings, striking out four and issuing just one walk.
 
UP NEXT
UMSL and Minnesota State will play two games tomorrow, beginning at Noon. Game one will be seven innings, while the nightcap will go nine innings.
