ST. LOUIS –The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team opened its season on Friday afternoon with a scoreless draw against Lewis, which also marked the first game under head coach
Maddi Moon.
The Tritons were playing their first game in 481 days after the season was shifted from the fall to the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
UMSL outshot the visiting Flyers, 15-9, including 6-4 in shots on goal.
Junior
Mia Milazzo took a team-high five shots, while senior
Sarah Lyon placed two of her three shots on goal.
Sophomore
Brynne Qualley played all 110 minutes in goal, making four saves.
UMSL returns to the field on Sunday, hosting Illinois Springfield at 12 p.m.
