EMPORIA, KAN. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team was shutout twice on Saturday at the ESU Classic, falling to Minnesota State, 8-0, and to host Emporia State, 1-0.

The Mavericks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Records: Emporia State (8-1), UMSL (3-7)
Emporia State scored the game's only run in the first inning on a sac fly.

Morgan Barnoski tallied two of UMSL's five hits, while sophomore
Jenna Towle had a double.
Towle suffered the loss in the circle despite a strong effort in which she allowed just the one run on four hits.
