ST. LOUIS –The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team allowed just four hits on Friday as the Tritons opened a four-game series against McKendree with wins of 6-0 and 3-2.
The two teams will close out the series tomorrow with another doubleheader.

Game 1: UMSL 6, McKendree 0
Nick Torres tossed the complete game one-hit shutout for his first win of the season, which included a career-high six strike outs, while issuing no walks.
Leighton Keller drove in three of the Triton runs, including two on his first collegiate home run in the seventh that gave his team a 5-0 lead.
Keller also recorded an RBI double in the fifth that made it 2-0, while
Matt DiMemmo followed with a single that scored Keller to make it 3-0.
UMSL recorded nine hits, including two doubles and two home runs.
John Hilpert recorded that other long ball, which was also his first collegiate. That came in the eighth inning to account for the final score.
UMSL got on the board in the second inning on
Bryce Burton's RBI double.
Game 2: UMSL 3, McKendree 2
The Tritons scored the game-winning run in the sixth on a two-out Bearcats error.
The two teams combined for just five hits.
Josh Shoemaker tossed two and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief to garner the win, surrendering just one hit, while
Holden Mayberry also allowed just one hit in the start, while striking out four.
UMSL took a 2-0 lead in the second, scoring once on a bases loaded catcher's interference before an RBI groundout from
Jared Bryant.
McKendree scored once in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie it.
DiMemmo and
Bryce Kulinski had one hit each.
