Record Number 14 Teams Earn the GLVC’s Team Academic Award

INDIANPOLIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis had a record 14 teams recognized as recipients of the 2020-21 Team Academic All-GLVC Award, as announced Monday by the league office.
 
The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year. In all, there were 190 men's and women's teams from across the league to earn the honor.
 
Those UMSL teams included women's tennis (3.91), women's golf (3.90), volleyball (3.75), men's tennis (3.64), softball (3.61), men's golf (3.51), women's swimming (3.48), women's basketball (3.46), women's soccer (3.38), men's cross country (3.37), men's track (3.37),  women's cross country (3.36), women's track (3.36), baseball (3.32).
 
UMSL led the league in largest academic growth by a GLVC school, having increased their total by six teams, as the Tritons went from eight to 14. 

The UMSL women's tennis team posted the league's overall second highest GPA, while women's golf was third overall. Illinois Springfield's women's tennis team posted a league high 3.94 GPA.
 
Of the 190 honored programs, 128 came from women's sports and 62 from the men's side.

Three league sports – softball (15), women's tennis (15) and volleyball (15) – saw all their teams above the 3.30 mark.
