INDIANAPOLIS – A record number 150 student-athletes from the University of Missouri-St. Louis have been recognized for their academic accomplishments by garnering Academic All-GLVC distinction for the 2020-21 year.
 
All 17 of UMSL's sports teams from this past year were represented on the list with women's soccer accounting for the most with 17 student-athletes, while women's golf had all eight of its student-athletes honored and women's tennis had all seven of its listed. In all, 63.8 percent of Triton student-athletes were named to the list. The previous record was 144 student-athletes last academic year.
 
There were 92 student-athletes who were repeat recipients for this award, having been named at least once before during their career, including five-time honorees Ben-Hur Kasprzak (men's tennis), Sarah Lyon (women's soccer) and Marina Prediger (women's tennis). Additionally, 16 are four-time selections, including Reilly Ahearn (men's golf), Michael Brothers (men's golf), Alexa Chairs (women's basketball), Kyle Coleman (men's soccer), Emily Hanewinkel (women's soccer), Karl Heinrichs (men's tennis), John Hilpert (baseball), Payton Kennelly (volleyball), Trevor Kosch (men's golf), Carlie Kudary (softball), Leticia Lunge (women's tennis), Esther Robinson (women's soccer), Emma Thorngren (women's golf), Shane Wissink (men's basketball) and Max Wootten (men's soccer).
 
The Academic All-GLVC honor is bestowed upon student-athletes who meet a cumulative GPA of 3.30 over two semesters of an academic year at the institution.
