INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has identified a league-wide 536 student-athletes who have earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney, FSC Distinguished Scholar Award, including 19 from UMSL. That is nine more than the previous high of 10 in each of the last two years.
 
Named after Brother James Gaffney FSC, former President of Lewis University for over 27 years and two-term Chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents, this award is presented annually to student-athletes who achieve a 4.0 grade point average during the course of the academic year.

In all, UMSL had 41 student-athletes with Straight A's for the academic year as the University uses a plus/minus system.
