INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team began Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 2-0 loss at No. 2 University of Indianapolis on Sunday. UIndy outshot UMSL 14-6 in the game.
Jordan Hurt and the Tritons (1-2, 0-1 GLVC) weathered an early storm from the Greyhound (3-0, 1-0 GLVC) offense in the first seven minutes of play. UIndy had three corner kicks and took five shots including one on net that Hurt stopped to keep the game even.
The Triton defense held strong and went into halftime in a scoreless tie.
In the 54th minute UIndy broke the tie when Dylan Bollard scored off a pass from Bryan Moreira.
The Greyhounds added a late goal in the 88th minute scored by Cole Rainwater with an assist by Alejandro Steinwascher.
Hurt finished with three saves in the game.
Leo Sowa and
Sawyer Hardy both recorded a shot on goal.
The Tritons will travel to play the University of Illinois Springfield at Lee Field in Springfield, Ill. on Friday, September 17th at 7:30 p.m.
