Truman State shuts out UMSL, 1-0

Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- It wasn't the type of home opener the Tritons had envisioned for themselves after spending the past few weeks on the road.

In a hard-fought, nail-bite fashion, the UMSL Tritons (3-4-0, 1-3-0) mustered all they had in tank, leaving it all on the pitch.

But in the end, it was the visiting Truman State Bulldogs who left the Tritons' pitch with the 1-0 GLVC win -- pushing their record to 3-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

For the Bulldogs, Faith Branson found pay dirt with a little more than eight minutes remaining in the opening half, taking the assist from Chance Douglas.

Truman finished the tilt with 15 shots, four more than the Tritons, to complement five fewer fouls than the host (12 to 7) -- allowing for added opportunities on the scoring end.

For the Tritons, they tallied two shots on goal -- a credit to the Bulldogs's smothering defensive attack.

Truman tallied eight shots on the goal.

The Tritons have netted one goal in the previous three matches and will look to regroup after a quick turnaround Sunday when they host Quincy.
